A new report from Reuters warns that close to 200,000 Ukrainian citizens who arrived in the United States after 2022 may soon lose their legal status.

Many of them entered under emergency programs created after Russia’s invasion, but now face uncertainty due to major delays in processing their extension requests.

According to the report, the Trump administration has paused the acceptance of new extension applications, and the paperwork already submitted is being handled very slowly. This has left thousands of people at risk of suddenly becoming undocumented.

If their status expires, Ukrainians could lose their work permits, health insurance, and legal permission to stay in the country, raising serious concerns among immigrant-rights groups and humanitarian organizations.
