Finland Receives Its First F-35 Fighter Jet, Arrives

Finland has officially received its first F-35A fighter jet, tail number JF-501, which landed in Arkansas this week, piloted by a U.S. Air Force major.

While the aircraft is officially Finnish property, it will remain in the United States until 2028 for training purposes. This allows Finnish personnel to gain hands-on experience and learn operational procedures for the advanced fighter jet.

Around 150 Finnish Air Force personnel, including pilots, technicians, and support staff, are heading to Arkansas to participate in intensive training programs.

They will join crews from Poland, Germany, Switzerland, and Singapore, learning alongside international partners to maximize operational readiness.

The F-35A, one of the world’s most advanced multirole fighter jets, represents a significant leap in Finland’s air defense capabilities.

By training in the U.S., Finland ensures its personnel are fully prepared for operational deployment once the jets return home.
