Russian Missile Strike Kills Ukrainian Family Near Kryvyi Rih; Family Dog Pulled Alive From Rubble
A Russia Strike ballistic missile destroyed a family home in the village of Radushne, near Kryvyi Rih, on the night of July 29 into July 30, killing at least six members of one family.
Rescuers continued searching the rubble Thursday for others believed still trapped.
The strike hit the house of Artem Voronov, 47, and Olena Voronov, 41, along with their children, according to Ukrainian outlets NV.ua and Censor.net.
The couple’s 18-month-old grandson, whose father is currently serving in the military, was also reported to have been in the home.
What Happened in Radushne
The attack was part of a wider Russia Strike bombardment overnight, with Ukrainian authorities saying Moscow launched more than 70 missiles and roughly 280 drones at multiple cities.
SNN reported that President Volodymyr Zelensky described the strike as having blown the family home “into smithereens.”
By Thursday afternoon, rescuers had recovered six bodies from the site, including the parents and four children, according to SNN affiliate reporting.
Officials cautioned that the chances of finding additional survivors were low and that DNA testing might be needed to identify some remains.
Family Members Named by Local Media
NV.ua and Censor.net, citing local outlet Svoi Kryvyi Rih, named the seven children in the household as 17-year-old Mark, 16-year-old Dominika, 14-year-old Viorika, 13-year-old Zakharii, 11-year-old Azarii Ilai, 9-year-old Federika, and 7-year-old Emilia.
These identifications have not been independently confirmed by Ukrainian government officials as of this report.
A relative, Matviy Voronov, wrote in a local community group asking whether anyone from the family had survived; a neighbor replied that only the home’s foundation remained, according to SNN .
The Family Dog, Rocky
Amid the destruction, a journalist from the local outlet Svoi Kryvyi Rih pulled a dog belonging to the family, later named Rocky, from beneath the rubble.
The animal had reportedly been chained under the debris and was found without apparent injuries, according to NV.ua and Censor.net.
Rescuers told SNN affiliate reporting that Rocky was spotted after his tail was seen poking out from the wreckage.
