West Bank violence claimed at least six lives this week near Nablus, after clashes broke out following the killing of an Israeli settler in the village of Tell.

The bloodshed has prompted Snn News Finland Bureau Chief Shumaila Aslam to renew her appeal for an end to attacks on Palestinian civilians and for faster international action toward a two-state solution.

Four Palestinians and two Israelis died in the violence, while several others were wounded on both sides, according to health officials.

The clashes have since spread, with reports of retaliatory attacks on nearby Palestinian villages.

How the West Bank Violence Began

According to the Israeli military, a group of settlers entered Tell and were confronted by residents fearful of an attack; a resident then seized a settler’s weapon and shot and killed him. Israeli forces responded by opening fire, killing four Palestinians.

Palestinian officials dispute this account. The governor of Nablus, Ghassan Daghlas, said settlers stormed the village, attempted to set homes alight, and opened fire on residents who confronted them, with Israeli forces later escorting the settlers out before raiding the village.

A video circulating online has added to the dispute. Footage confirmed by the Israeli military showed soldiers firing on a group of Palestinians who were already on the ground; the military said one of the men killed was a suspect in the settler’s death but did not explain the deaths of the others, who were relatives.

Aftermath of the Nablus Clash

Israeli forces later raided Nablus Specialized Hospital, entering the emergency department, according to witnesses.

The army’s chief of staff, Eyal Zamir, said additional troops were being deployed, with Tell and Nablus now encircled.

The UN’s humanitarian affairs office said it had recorded 32 separate settler attacks on 30 Palestinian villages across the West Bank in recent days, about a third of them near Nablus, resulting in at least 32 injuries.

Bureau Chief’s Appeal Amid West Bank Violence

Reacting to the escalation, Aslam said: “I renew my appeal for an end to the ongoing violence against the Palestinian civilian population in the West Bank Violence, and I urgently call upon the international community to redouble its efforts toward advancing a two-state solution as the only viable path to a just and lasting peace.”

Her appeal echoes long-standing international positions that a negotiated two-state framework remains the primary diplomatic route to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, though the current escalation underscores how far the parties remain from that goal.
