The updates, announced on September 3, 2026, are designed to make the app’s comment areas more interactive and keep audiences engaged longer.

Voice comments let users speak directly under videos
The most noticeable addition is Voice Comments. Users can now tap a microphone icon in the comment box and record an audio message up to one minute long. Once posted, anyone can tap the comment to listen.
TikTok said in a statement that voice comments will be subject to the same Community Guidelines as other content on the platform. The company uses a combination of human review and automated detection tools, including speech-to-text transcription, to identify and remove policy-violating content.
Voice comments are rolling out globally over the next month to users 18 and older.
Creators gain poll tools inside comment threads
Creators can now add polls directly inside comments on their own videos. The feature had been available to some users in testing, but TikTok unveils said it is now available globally.
Creators can offer up to five voting options and set a time limit for responses. Results can be tracked directly in the comment thread.
TikTok suggested polls could be used for questions like choosing the next video idea, picking an outfit, or deciding what to cook.
Photo carousel and Live Photo comments expand visual replies
TikTok unveils is also increasing how many images users can attach to a single comment.
The Photo Carousel Comments feature allows up to nine photos in one comment, up from one image previously. That feature is rolling out globally over the next month.
In addition, users can now upload Live Photo comments images that include a brief burst of motion and sound from the moments before and after the shutter was pressed.
