Dubai Police Thwart Heist of $25 Million Pink Diamond

Dubai police announced on Monday that they had arrested three thieves just hours after the theft of a precious pink diamond worth $25 million.
In a statement issued by the UAE’s official news agency WAM, Dubai Police said, “The Dubai Police General Command has foiled the theft of an extremely rare pink diamond valued at $25 million.”
Police reported that a diamond merchant, who had brought the gemstone from Europe, was lured into a villa by a criminal gang under the pretense of a potential wealthy client interested in viewing the diamond.
However, the jewel was stolen when the merchant arrived for the fake inspection, the statement added.
Police stated that “thanks to the efforts of specialized and field teams, along with the use of advanced artificial intelligence technologies,” the three suspects, all from an Asian country, were arrested within eight hours. The country’s name was not disclosed. However, the jewel was stolen when the merchant arrived for the fake inspection, the statement added.
