In India’s Madhya Pradesh state, an 18-year-old student brutally attacked his former school teacher by setting her on fire after sprinkling petrol on her in Narsinghpur district.
According to Indian media, the accused, identified as Suryansh Kocher, arrived at the teacher’s residence on Monday with a bottle of petrol.
He poured it on her, ignited the flames, and fled the scene. The teacher sustained 10–15% burn injuries and was immediately shifted to the district hospital.
Police acted swiftly and arrested the accused within a few hours from a nearby village.
Initial investigation revealed that the 26-year-old teacher and the student had known each other for the past two years, but the accused developed a one-sided infatuation.
Reports indicate that the motive behind the attack was a previous complaint filed by the teacher.
During an Independence Day program last year, the teacher, who was wearing a sari, was subjected to an inappropriate remark by the accused.
Following her complaint, Kocher was expelled from the school. Since then, he had been planning revenge, which ultimately led to this violent act.
