A 36-year-old member of Finland’s far-right Blue-and-Black Movement has been fined €1,650 for incitement against Jewish people after burning an Israeli flag and posting a video of the act online.

The Southwest Finland District Court sentenced the man to 50 day-fines. In court, he admitted to carrying out the act and sharing the video.

On the group’s website and social media platforms, the activist has previously highlighted his ties to the Finns Party and expressed admiration for National Socialism. He is still listed as a member of the Blue-and-Black Movement.

The movement, widely described as racist and fascist, was re-registered as a political party in May after collecting the required 5,000 supporter cards.

It had earlier been struck from the register when Finland’s Supreme Administrative Court ruled its programme incompatible with constitutional and human rights law.

The Blue-and-Black Movement was originally founded by former Finns Party members with strong ethnonationalist views.
