France has returned three human skulls to Madagascar more than a century after they were seized during the colonial era. Among them is one believed to be that of King Toera, executed by French forces in 1897.

The remains were officially handed over during a ceremony at the French Ministry of Culture.

The transfer marks a symbolic step in addressing the legacy of colonial violence and the repatriation of cultural and human remains.
