Tallinn: NATO fighter jets intercepted three Russian MiG-31 aircraft that violated Estonian airspace over the Baltic Sea in a 12-minute incursion, raising alarm across Europe.

The Italian Air Force was deployed to block the Russian jets near the Gulf of Finland. NATO termed the act as evidence of Moscow’s “reckless” and provocative behavior.

EU’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, who previously served as Estonia’s prime minister, strongly condemned the violation. She called it an “extremely dangerous provocation” and warned that Russia’s actions are further escalating tensions on NATO’s eastern borders.

Russia, however, rejected the allegations, denying any airspace breach.
