Finnish Man Arrested in Cambodia Over Double Stabbing

A 47-year-old Finnish man has been detained in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on suspicion of stabbing two people following a dispute over an unpaid tuk-tuk taxi fare.

According to local reports, the man attacked an apartment receptionist after she refused to lend him money for the fare. CCTV footage shows the suspect wielding two knives and stabbing the receptionist, who suffered serious injuries, before also attacking security guards who tried to intervene.

Cambodian authorities confirmed that two people were injured in the assault. The suspect is currently being held by the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Phnom Penh Military Police.

Phnom Penh’s military police, equipped with helmets and shields, responded quickly to the scene and arrested the man. Finnish newspaper Iltalehti was the first to report the case.

A spokesperson from Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs said they are aware of international media reports and confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, but declined to provide further details.
