Washington The United States is bracing for the largest mass resignation of federal workers in its history, as over 100,000 employees prepare to quit under the government’s deferred resignation program.

The resignations, scheduled for Tuesday, come as federal workers say they have little choice left amid deep cuts pushed by the Trump administration.

With Congress racing against a Tuesday deadline to approve new funding and avoid a government shutdown, the White House has also instructed federal agencies to prepare contingency plans for large-scale layoffs should lawmakers fail to strike a deal.
