Helsinki/Vilnius: Authorities in Finland and Lithuania have reported fresh incidents of unidentified drones flying over sensitive infrastructure, raising security concerns in the region.
In Lithuania, three drones violated the airspace above Vilnius Airport, forcing the cancellation or diversion of seven flights on Tuesday. Officials said investigations are underway to identify the operators.
Meanwhile in Finland, a drone was spotted over a hydroelectric power plant near Rovaniemi, despite a no-fly zone established around key energy facilities. Finnish security services are examining whether the incident was deliberate or linked to wider regional activity.
Both countries have tightened restrictions on unmanned aircraft operations near airports and strategic energy infrastructure following repeated violations in recent months.
