Sidoarjo, East Java (Scandinavian News Agency) At least three people were confirmed dead and more than 90 remain

missing after a building at an Islamic boarding school collapsed in Indonesia on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at Al Khoziny school in the East Java town of Sidoarjo, about 780km (480 miles) from Jakarta.

Authorities said the collapse happened as students gathered for late-afternoon prayers inside the mosque located on the lower floor of the building, while construction work was ongoing on the upper floors.

Parents rushed to the site in a desperate search for their children, many of whom are feared trapped under massive piles of concrete.

Rescue teams reported that 99 students and staff survived, but at least 91 people remain unaccounted for.

By late Tuesday, three bodies had been pulled from the rubble as emergency crews continued efforts, hampered by the instability of the structure.

The government has deployed heavy machinery and additional rescue workers as the search continues through the night.
