French police have successfully foiled an assassination attempt targeting Vladimir Osechkin, a Russian journalist,

human rights activist, and founder of Gulagu.net, according to Le Parisien.

The French National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the arrest of four suspects aged between 26 and 38.

Three of the detained men are from Russia’s Dagestan region and reportedly told investigators that they were in France on vacation.

Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the motive behind the plot and whether it has any international links.

Osechkin, who has lived in exile in France since 2015, is known for exposing human rights abuses within the Russian prison system.
