Police Officer Fired in Finland Over Bribery Case

A senior police officer in Finland has been dismissed after being found guilty of accepting a bribe.

According to the Eastern Uusimaa District Court in Hyvinkää, the officer accepted a gift meant to influence his official duties.

The court handed him a suspended prison sentence in mid-September.

The incident came to light when a woman, who had bribed the officer to check on her son’s criminal records, later filed a complaint against him.

Following the court’s ruling, the Eastern Uusimaa Police Department immediately terminated the officer’s employment.
