BAGHDAD Iraqis began voting on Tuesday to elect a new 329-member parliament, according to state television. Polling stations across the country opened early in the morning and will close at 6:00 p.m. (1500 GMT).

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani is seeking a second term in office. However, many young Iraqis say they have little hope that the elections will bring real reform. They believe the vote mainly serves as a tool for

long-established political parties to divide the nation’s vast oil wealth among themselves.
