According to the Europe Report 2025 by the Vienna-based Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians (OIDAC), Europe recorded 2,211 anti-Christian hate crimes last year.
The report highlights a rise in personal attacks, increasing to 274 from 232 in the previous year, alongside a sharp surge in arson cases targeting churches and Christian sites.
A total of 94 arson attacks were reported, nearly double the previous year, with 33 incidents in Germany alone.
In total, 516 hate-motivated crimes were documented, a number that rises to 1,503 when including thefts and break-ins at religious sites. France, the UK, Germany, Spain, and Austria reported the highest levels of anti-Christian offenses.
Among the most serious incidents noted was the killing of a 76-year-old monk during an attack on the Monastery of Santo Esp.
The report underscores a growing concern for the safety of Christian communities across Europe.
