Israel has removed several senior military officers from their positions after an internal investigation concluded that major operational and intelligence failures contributed to the devastating October 7 Hamas attack.
According to official statements, the Israeli military acknowledged that critical warnings were overlooked and key defensive protocols were not activated in time, allowing Hamas fighters to breach security barriers and inflict heavy casualties.
The inquiry found that the chain of command did not respond effectively during the early stages of the assault, resulting in what authorities described as a “systemic collapse.”
Israeli defense officials stated that the dismissals are part of broader accountability measures aimed at restoring public confidence and strengthening national security structures. Additional reforms within intelligence units and field commands are expected in the coming weeks.
The October 7 attack one of the deadliest in the region in recent years—triggered ongoing conflict and heightened tensions across Gaza and Israel.
The latest actions by the Israeli military signal a continued effort to address the internal shortcomings that contributed to the tragedy.
