Authorities in Warsaw have removed a pro-Putin tent that stood for more than a year directly across from the U.S. Embassy. The tent had been protected under a legally registered gathering, which prevented officials from taking action earlier.

However, firefighters recently discovered gas cylinders inside the structure, creating a public safety risk and providing the legal basis for its forced dismantling.

According to officials, those operating the tent distributed antisemitic and anti-Ukrainian leaflets and attempted to portray Vladimir Putin as a “victim of the war.”

The demonstration was led by Andrzej Zakrzewski, head of the “Sovereignty of the Polish Nation” movement a fringe group known for advocating Poland’s withdrawal from the EU and NATO and for supporting Russia and Belarus’s Lukashenka.

Zakrzewski reportedly resisted the removal efforts, leading police to call for medical assistance. He was subsequently transported to a psychiatric facility for evaluation.
