The Bulgarian government has officially collapsed after weeks of large anti-corruption protests. Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov announced the decision today.

For several weeks, thousands of people marched across the country, accusing the government of corruption and demanding political change. The pressure kept growing, and finally the government could no longer continue.

Zhelyazkov said he had no choice but to step down, as the crisis had become too big to control.

The collapse of the government means Bulgaria will now face political uncertainty and likely move toward new elections.
