Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen has welcomed the release of 123 political prisoners in Belarus, calling it encouraging news. The released prisoners include well-known opposition figures Ales Bialiatski and Maria Kalesnikava.

According to Valtonen, the releases were made possible with the help of the United States. However, she stressed that many political prisoners are still being held in Belarusian prisons.

Finland has demanded the unconditional release of all remaining detainees and continues to support human rights and democratic values in Belarus.
