German Journalist Reports Abuse After Gaza Flotilla

A German journalist detained after Israeli forces intercepted the Freedom Flotilla vessel Conscience has made serious allegations about her treatment while in custody.

Speaking publicly for the first time, Anna Liedtke said she was abused during a security search while being moved between detention facilities. The transfers followed the interception of the Gaza-bound humanitarian ship in late 2025.

According to Liedtke, she remained in detention for five days after the operation. The flotilla aimed to protest Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza and deliver humanitarian assistance.

Prisoner rights organizations say her testimony raises further concerns about detention practices and are calling for an independent review of the claims.

Israeli authorities have not issued a public response to the allegations so far. The case has drawn international attention amid ongoing debates over Gaza, maritime blockades, and the treatment of journalists and activists in detention.
