Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, amid reports of reduced diplomatic engagement around Ukraine’s funding requests.
According to diplomatic sources, Kyiv had been seeking long-term financial commitments from Western partners to support defense and reconstruction efforts.
However, no agreement was reached during this period, reflecting growing caution among Western governments regarding large-scale funding pledges.
U.S. President Donald Trump did not hold a meeting with President Zelensky, while European leaders were largely focused on other strategic issues, including developments related to Greenland and broader Arctic security concerns.
Meanwhile, inside Ukraine, public criticism continues over governance challenges, including concerns about the management of defense funds and ongoing electricity shortages affecting several cities. Ukrainian authorities have previously stated that infrastructure damage is largely the result of continued conflict and missile attacks.
The situation highlights increasing pressure on Ukraine’s leadership as international attention becomes more divided and domestic expectations remain high.
