Afghan and Pakistani negotiators are set to meet in Istanbul on Saturday to discuss security concerns and work toward

establishing a lasting truce along their shared border, following two weeks of unexpectedly intense and deadly clashes.

The confrontation, which has claimed dozens of lives, including civilians, erupted after a series of explosions in central Kabul.

The Taliban government blamed Pakistan for the blasts and launched retaliatory strikes near the border, triggering heavy crossfire and escalating tensions between the two neighbors.

Diplomatic sources say both sides are under international pressure to de-escalate hostilities and restore stability in the region.
