Belarus Offers Possible Safe Haven to Venezuela’s Maduro

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro could be considering Belarus as a potential refuge, after Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko openly signaled his readiness to receive him.

Speaking to U.S. television network Newsmax, Lukashenko said that relations between Belarus and Venezuela have never been hostile, emphasizing that Maduro would be welcome in his country if he decided to relocate.

He stressed that Maduro has never been viewed as an adversary by Minsk and that Belarus would not close its doors to him under any circumstances.

However, Lukashenko also suggested that a diplomatic solution would be preferable. He noted that engaging in talks and reaching an understanding with the United States could help ease the current situation surrounding the Venezuelan leader.

The comments come as Maduro continues to face mounting political pressure and increasing attention from the international community.

Observers say Lukashenko’s remarks reflect evolving global alignments and the growing cooperation among leaders facing international isolation.
