There’s still no movement at the Belarus–Lithuania border as Minsk continues to block Lithuanian trucks despite earlier “positive signals” reported by the Lithuanian road carriers’ association Linava.
Prime Minister’s adviser Ignas Dobrovolskas confirmed that Belarus is not allowing Lithuanian vehicles to pass and is even stopping the evacuation of drivers trapped inside Belarus.
According to Lithuanian authorities, around 1,000 trucks remain stuck in Belarus — about 400 of them near the Šalčininkai border crossing.
Earlier, Lithuania had closed the Šalčininkai and Medininkai border points until November 30 in a move to combat cigarette smuggling a measure that could be extended further.
In retaliation, Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka issued a decree banning trucks from several EU nations, including Lithuania, from transiting through Belarusian territory.
