A tragic accident occurred in Brazil when a young man died at the gym after losing control of a heavy barbell. The incident happened while he was lifting weights using an unsafe grip.
According to fitness experts, he was holding the barbell without wrapping his thumb around it a risky technique often called a “false grip” or “suicide grip.”
While attempting a lift, the bar slipped suddenly from his hands and fell directly onto his chest. The strong impact caused severe internal damage, and his heart reportedly stopped instantly. Despite immediate help from people at the gym, he could not be saved.
Safety specialists warn that this type of accident is preventable. They advise gym-goers to always use a full, firm grip with the thumb wrapped tightly around the bar. Trainers also recommend not lifting heavy weights alone and using safety bars or a spotter for additional protection.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder that simple safety measures can save lives. Fitness enthusiasts around the world are urged to lift responsibly and prioritize correct technique over ego lifting.
