A 33-year-old Chechen woman, Aliya Ozdamirova, who fled to Georgia after receiving threats from her family, was reportedly forcibly taken back to Chechnya and killed by her own relatives.
Aliya had left Chechnya due to threats related to her sexual orientation, as well as disputes involving her business partners and investors. She told friends that her personal information had become known to certain relatives,
including her brothers and cousins, who had previously attacked her.
In early November, Aliya was reportedly deceived into meeting someone posing as a lawyer, who claimed she was under investigation for allegedly “financing terrorism.
” Her uncle, a prominent figure named Ali Asaev, promised assistance but instead facilitated her forced return to Chechnya.
By November 12, reports emerged of her death, and Aliya was subsequently buried. Human rights advocates have condemned the incident, highlighting the ongoing risks faced by individuals fleeing persecution in Chechnya.
