1. Constitutional transition
Under Venezuela’s constitution, power would pass to Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, who would be required to organize new presidential elections within 30 days.
2. Regime collapse and opposition takeover
In this scenario, the current regime collapses and the opposition assumes power. The most likely new president would be Edmundo González Urrutia, the opposition’s 2024 presidential candidate, currently in exile and supported by Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado.
3. Military coup
Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López could seize power by force. He has already addressed the nation, pledging resistance to any foreign intervention.
