Authorities in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, have enforced a citywide curfew following intense

protests against President Samia Suluhu Hassan, sparked by widespread claims of election rigging.

Protesters accuse the government of suppressing democracy, while opposition

leader Tundu Lissu remains imprisoned on treason charges he strongly denies.

Another prominent opposition candidate, Luhaga Mpina of ACT-Wazalendo, was barred

from the election, further fueling public outrage.

Tensions escalated after the electoral commission announced preliminary results

showing President Samia winning nearly 95% of the votes in Mbeya Province, and

maintaining a commanding lead in Zanzibar and other regions.

Security forces have reportedly opened fire on crowds using live ammunition, leaving dozens

injured. Hospitals are struggling with a sudden influx of casualties, while authorities have

begun restricting internet access across the nation in an apparent bid to control information flow.
