NEW YORK Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has urged the immediate lifting of all international sanctions on Syria,
stressing that Ankara backs initiatives that uphold Syriaโs sovereignty and territorial integrity.
His remarks followed a high-level meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on the sidelines of the 80th
United Nations General Assembly in New York. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing pressing regional issues.
According to Tรผrkiyeโs Directorate of Communications, President Erdogan underlined the importance of regional stability and reaffirmed Tรผrkiyeโs long-standing stance.
โTรผrkiye expects all sanctions on Syria to be lifted as soon as possible,โ he said, emphasizing that removing restrictions is vital for Syriaโs economic recovery and the well-being of its people.
The leaders also discussed security matters, with Erdogan affirming that Tรผrkiyeโs support for Syria will โcontinue to increase.โ
The meeting signaled Ankaraโs intent to normalize ties and advance a future of peace and cooperation in the region.
