The European Union has approved a €90 billion financial support package for Ukraine covering the years 2026 and 2027.

The decision was made after an EU summit that lasted more than 15 hours and ended late at night, highlighting the scale and urgency of the support for Kyiv.

Under the plan, the money will be provided as a loan over the next two years. Ukraine will be required to repay the loan once Russia pays war reparations.

If Russia refuses to pay, the EU has stated that it reserves the right to use frozen Russian assets to cover the debt.

EU officials described the package as unprecedented and aimed at ensuring Ukraine’s long-term financial stability during the war.
