Finland’s Foreign Minister Elena Valtonen has strongly condemned the latest Russian air strikes on Ukraine, stating that the attacks have left nearly half of Kyiv’s apartment buildings without heating amid freezing winter conditions.
In her statement, Valtonen highlighted that countries like Finland, which experience harsh winters, fully understand the deadly consequences of extreme cold.
She said that exposure to such conditions can quickly become a matter of life and death, particularly for civilians.
The Finnish foreign minister described the strikes as clear evidence of Russia’s disregard for human lives, stressing that attacks targeting civilians constitute war crimes under international law.
Reaffirming Finland’s position, Valtonen emphasized that Finland will continue to stand firmly with Ukraine and once again called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further civilian suffering
