Finland has positioned heavy artillery close to its border with Russia as part of large-scale military exercises. The drills, named Northern Strike 225, are taking place at the Rovajärvi training area in Eastern Lapland.

Around 2,200 troops and 500 pieces of equipment are participating, making it the largest artillery exercise in the region this winter. The exercise aims to test speed and accuracy of artillery in harsh winter conditions and improve coordination with allied forces.
