Helsinki: Finland has released a video showing the seizure of a Russian vessel, Fitburg, described as part of a “shadow fleet.”

The ship was detained following an act of sabotage that damaged an undersea communications cable linking Finland and Estonia.

According to Finnish authorities, the Fitburg was traveling from St. Petersburg to Haifa carrying sanctioned Russian steel.

While in Finland’s exclusive economic zone, the vessel dragged its anchor along the seabed, causing significant damage to the cable.

The ship was decisively intercepted by Finland’s Border Guard, and customs officials confirmed that the cargo was indeed under sanctions. Out of the 14 crew members, two—citizens of Russia and Azerbaijan—have been arrested.
