Finland is developing a maintenance capability for F-35 fighter jet engines, a move expected to

significantly strengthen the operational reliability of the Finnish Air Force’s future main fleet in all security situations.

Defense officials stated that this initiative will ensure Finland’s ability to maintain and repair its aircraft independently, e

ven during heightened security conditions. The project forms part of Finland’s broader defense cooperation with the United States and NATO partners.

Experts note that establishing this domestic maintenance capability will reduce dependence on foreign repair facilities, enhance response time, and ensure uninterrupted defense readiness.

The F-35 fleet is set to become the core of Finland’s air defense system, replacing aging Hornet aircraft by the end of the decade.
