Helsinki: Finland will deploy 15,000 troops for large-scale military exercises near the Russian

border from November to December, the Finnish Army announced.

The exercises aim to train conscripts, reservists, and active-duty personnel for

wartime operations, with NATO allied forces also participating in the drills.

The move comes as NATO continues to boost its presence in Finland. In September, a new

regional land command headquarters was established in Mikkeli, located just 140

kilometers from the Russian border, underscoring the alliance’s growing focus on

the Nordic region amid rising tensions with Moscow.
