Finland, US Discuss Security and Arctic Cooperation

Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen has welcomed U.S. Representative Jack Bergman and Representative Sarah Elfreth to Helsinki for discussions on shared security interests and future cooperation.

In a statement, Valtonen said both sides expressed a strong commitment to collective security and explored opportunities for cooperation in technology and innovation. The meeting highlighted the importance of close coordination between Finland and the United States.

The discussions also focused on Arctic issues, with Valtonen emphasizing that challenges in the region should be addressed through diplomatic dialogue and increased engagement among NATO members.

She noted that cooperation and open communication remain essential for maintaining stability in the Arctic.

The visit reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen transatlantic ties and expand collaboration in security, innovation, and regional affairs.
