Finnish Army troops train in extreme winter weather in northern Finland.Heavy snow, freezing temperatures, and short daylight hours make the training especially challenging.
The soldiers depend on sisu, a Finnish idea that means staying strong, calm, and determined even when conditions are very hard. This mindset helps them continue their training during freezing temperatures and long winter nights.
As part of their training, soldiers practice basic survival skills. They learn how to make simple shelters, move safely through snow, and manage with limited food and supplies. These skills help them stay prepared and confident in difficult situations.
This winter preparation plays a vital role in Finland’s national defense. It shows how Finnish soldiers are prepared to protect their country in one of the coldest regions in Europe, where nature itself can be the biggest challenge.
