Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz has said that the greatest security threat facing Europe today comes from the East, pointing directly to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
In his remarks, Chancellor Merz stated that Europe’s security challenges are not coming from Western regions. He stressed that his main concern is the continued conflict in Ukraine, which he described as the most serious risk to stability across the continent.
Merz added that issues such as Greenland are not a priority threat when compared to the consequences of the war in Ukraine. He emphasized that the conflict has wide-ranging effects on European security, defense planning, and political unity.
The statement reflects growing concern among European leaders about the long-term impact of the Ukraine war and the need for a coordinated response to ensure regional stability.
