German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has declared that Germany must build the strongest army in the European

Union to effectively deter Russian aggression.

Merz emphasized that Europe faces an increasingly unstable security environment and that Germany, as the EU’s

largest economy, carries a special responsibility to strengthen its defense capabilities.

He added that building a powerful army would not only ensure Germany’s national security but also reinforce

Europe’s collective defense under NATO.

The statement comes amid growing concerns across Europe following Russia’s continued military assertiveness

and tensions along the EU’s eastern borders.
