Germany has begun mass denials of asylum seekers from Syria after resuming processing of nearly 53,000 previously suspended cases, according to BILD.

The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) had frozen these cases for almost a year following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime and the official end of the civil war in Syria.

Statistics from BAMF reveal that in October 2025, Germany granted asylum to only 1 out of 3,134 Syrian applicants, provided subsidiary protection to nine others, and issued six deportation bans—resulting in a rejection rate exceeding 99%.

While actual deportations have not yet begun, preparations are reportedly underway.
