For the first time in years, Germany has authorized the deportation of two Syrian nationals, following a ruling by

the Administrative Court of Düsseldorf. The court determined that the men no longer face a serious threat in

their home country.

According to the court, the provinces of Damascus and Latakia where the two men originate no longer

experience a level of arbitrary violence “high enough” to endanger life.

The case involves a 46-year-old cook and his 26-year-old son, whose asylum requests had also been rejected in

Austria. The decision is final and cannot be appealed.
