Germany has decided to empower its police with the authority to shoot down rogue drones, in

response to growing security threats and incidents of airspace violations across Europe.

The cabinet approved the draft law on Wednesday, which now awaits parliamentary approval.

Once enacted, the legislation will explicitly allow police to take down drones if they are deemed to pose an acute threat or cause serious harm.

Officials say the move comes after repeated drone disruptions at European airports, and amid concerns from

European leaders that such incidents may be part of a wider hybrid warfare strategy linked to Russia.
