Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have signed a landmark defense pact, marking the first-ever strategic defense agreement between two major Muslim states.

This pact is being called historic and timely for several reasons:

  • Shift in Global Alliances – The agreement comes after growing frustration in the Arab world over what many view as U.S. betrayal, particularly Washington’s silence on Israeli actions against Qatar.
  • Response to Israeli Expansionism – The deal is also seen as a direct response to Israel’s unchecked regional ambitions targeting Palestine, Qatar, Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen.
  • Pakistan’s Military Strength – Pakistan’s recent victory over India in May 2025 has reinforced its military credibility. In that encounter, Pakistan demonstrated both the will and capability to take on its rival, delivering what experts called a “bloody nose” to India, Israel’s closest ally in the region.

Analysts say this agreement positions Pakistan as a new security guarantor in the Middle East, gradually displacing Western influence in the region.
