A growing debate has erupted in India after Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi was seen publicly violating the Army’s dress code an act many call both shameful and worrying.

The Army uniform symbolizes discipline, neutrality, and secularism, yet the silence from Prime Minister Modi’s government over this breach has raised eyebrows.

Critics argue that this silence reflects the politicisation of the Indian Army, as an institution once known for professionalism is increasingly being used for political optics.

Analysts warn that if even the Army Chief disregards uniform regulations, it sends the wrong signal to the ranks — undermining the very principles the uniform stands for.

“No one is above the code of conduct. The uniform deserves respect, not misuse,” observers noted.
