New Delhi India witnessed record-breaking festive spending this year, as citizens spent an estimated $77 billion during Diwali 2025, according to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).

This marks the highest Diwali expenditure in India’s history, reflecting the country’s strong post-pandemic economic momentum and rising consumer confidence.

CAIT officials stated that this year’s surge was fueled by increased spending on jewelry, electronics, clothing, sweets, and home décor items, with a noticeable rise in online shopping and digital payments.

Experts say the record sales also indicate robust domestic demand and a positive outlook for India’s retail sector heading into 2026.
