Japan Fighter Jet Crashes, Pilot Ejects and Rescued

Tokyo – A Japanese Air Self-Defense Force F-2 fighter jet crashed off the coast of Ibaraki Prefecture in eastern Japan during a routine training exercise, public broadcaster NHK reported on Thursday.

The aircraft’s lone pilot successfully ejected before impact and was promptly rescued. Authorities confirmed that the pilot is not in life-threatening condition. An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
