Ayatollah Khamenei is preparing to flee to Russia when his regime falls amid ongoing protests in Iran

This “Plan B” is in case security forces fail to suppress the popular protests against the Islamist regime, which have been ongoing for over a week.

The Times reports this, citing intelligence sources.

86-year-old dictator plans to take his son Mojtaba Khamenei, widely seen as the most likely successor, along with other family members and close aides.

In Russia, Khamenei would reportedly join other fallen or embattled autocrats, including Bashar al-Assad, Viktor Yanukovych, and former Kyrgyz president Askar Akayev.
